Creativity is universal and can be found in places where one does not expect to find it. Perseverance and passion are essential to nurturing that creative ability.

At age 13, Kelvin Doe, also known as DJ Focus, became a self-taught engineer who built his own radio station in Sierra Leone in West Africa to increase youth engagement on issues.

Using pieces of scrap to build batteries, generators, and radio transmitters, he wanted to solve his neighborhood’s intermittent electricity supply and constant blackouts.

Doe became the youngest person ever to be invited to MIT’s Visiting Practitioner’s Program. In 2016, Doe was an honorary board member of Emergency USA which provided free medical care for those affected by war and poverty. At age 20, he founded his startup, KDoe-Tech, and the Kelvin Doe Foundation which is an education technology development and delivery service for underserved learners to improve their access to technology.
