The Department of African American Studies wishes a special congratulations to Taylor-Simone Johnson for being awarded the position as BSOS Deans Student Advisory Council (DSAC) African American Studies Representative for 2023-2024! The Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC) is an undergraduate committee that advises the BSOS Associate Dean and Dean on undergraduate matters, provides a forum for student leaders to propose and launch initiatives to support undergraduates in BSOS, and offers a forum for discussion and action on matters pertinent to the undergraduate experience at the University of Maryland. 

Johnson, Junior, majors in African American Studies with a concentration in Public Policy as well as Criminology and Criminal Justice. In 2022, Johnson previously served as the BSOS DSAC African American Studies Representative and we are excited to have Johnson serve an additional term. Johnson is the Acting Secretary for the Caribbean Student Association, an Incentive Awards Scholar, and a fellow in the Rawlings Undergraduate Leadership Program.  After graduation, Johnson plans on attending law school upon graduation to pursue a career in social justice.
