For Black History Month, The Department of African American Studies honored the historical achievements of, often overlooked but notable, African American, African, Latin American, and Caribbean heroes. We highlight the stories and excellence of Black women, men, young and old, many of whom overcame adversity to drive change toward a more just and equitable society.
