African American Studies faculty members Dr. Robert Choflet (PI), Dr. Sharon Harley (Co-I), and Dr. Angel Dunbar (Co-I) were awarded a 2022 Experiential Learning Grant from the University of Maryland’s Teaching and Learning Transformation Center. The grant will support a learning project that will work to connect students and the classroom to the wealth of Black cultural resources in the region. The project will last the duration of the academic year and will develop pathways for involving students in museum visits, archival research, and the curation of their own cultural exhibits within AASP 202, Black Culture in the US. Upon completion, Dr. Choflet will assess the work and compose a report for the department outlining best practices for future course implementation.
